Up to speed

The last few weeks have been miserable. All of us have been sick. I thought for a while that I was beyond it's horrible grasp, but I was wrong. It got me, and it got me good.

Thank you so much to all those who called or brought in delicious meals. Thanks to my in-laws who kept the children entertained and the kitchen clean when they should have just been enjoying their vacation. I pick the worst times to be sick.

I guess the thing that I feel the worst about is Farmboy's birthday. It really got overlooked. At least by me. Grandma and Grandpa took us out to dinner which was a treat and a half, but I fear that I didn't do enough despite both our illnesses. I made him a tootsie roll cake and called it good. Pretty lame I know! So, I promise that when things are better, I'll do something in honor of him.

Being sick has made me appreciate a few of the everyday activities that I normally don't think much of.

Today, I enjoyed picking up after my kids. I enjoyed laughing (honestly laughing) with Mini-E about something silly. I enjoyed talking on the phone with a friend, a sister, and a mother. I enjoyed editing some pictures. I enjoyed putting away some laundry. I enjoyed running an errand that's been on my list for days. I enjoyed doing my hair!

I'm just so grateful to be doing something instead of sitting in bed thinking that I'll never get better. I guess we all need a little down time to remember how great we normally feel. Hopefully this up time will last for a long long time.

A distraction

Things are still congested at our house. HY eyes are looking a lot better (thanks for the advice ONEHM) & Mini-E is happy as can be with the bubble gum flavored anti-biotic (yuck!). I a still wanting to chop off my head and get a new one, but we're doing better than yesterday.

Since HY hasn't been feeling great, I have no sledding, snow, park, or other adventuresome pictures to post. When we're sick, we stick to the house and watch tv (gasp!), color, read books, & scream at each other (the children, not Farmboy and I). It's pretty lame around here. We try to keep our spirits up and our tears to a minimum. So the other day when HY started screaming over something. I started doing this. For documentation purposes of course.

And then I got a very motherly idea. Distract him! I can't argue with my kids. I can't talk sense into them. But I can distract them. So, I asked him if he wanted to look through the window on the camera. Indeed he did.

He's quite the photographer. He even asked if he could hold it and do it "by himself"---uh? to which I said NO. And quickly distracted him to the kitchen.

From bad to worse

Photobucket
This is how things have progressed at our house. First it was just Mini-E & a little cold all the way around (minus Farmboy). And then it progressed to more ear problems, HY with gooie eyes (I'm assuming pink eye), and me with full blow sinus infection(for the 2nd time this YEAR--yes, 2009). So it's been lots of fun at our house. We just gotta get better!

I have scrubbed every surface with Clorox! We are gonna beat this thing.

Under the weather

Mini-E has not been feeling well lately (none of us has really).

Last week I took her to the doctor because she was complaining about her ears. He made things worse when he was trying to remove some earwax and irritated the side of her ear & made it bleed. She was devastated. And I remembered why we never go to the doctor.

So I used my mother's oil of garlic treatment for her ears for a few days. She seemed to be much happier. And then today, she started complaining again about the ears. Low grade fever. Very cranky. Only wanted to be held. Took a 4 hour nap. Ate homemade chicken noodle soup & is currently twirling in circles saying "weeeeeeeeeee."Photobucket

But I may have found a solution as to why I can't get her to shake whatever it is that she's got.
I found her (for the second time in 2 weeks) brushing her teeth in the toilet! That's right. She was using toilet water. We try to keep that bathroom door shut, but it's never easy when the person in and out so frequently is a 3 year old.

Gross! Just thinking about it makes me gag. No more kisses from Mini-E.

Any suggestions?

Ah, I'm smelling a poopie diaper. It begins.

We woke up to....

THIS Have I mentioned how much I LOVE living in Utah (insert sarcasm here)? We have Stake Conference today, but Farmboy has been doing this for the past hour. And HY has been sick for the past couple of days & doesn't seem to be getting better. So, I don't think we are going anywhere.

While Farmboy is doing his work, Mini-E is busy taking care of HY. She's hard at work.

Hope your Sunday is a bit more sunny than ours!

Can you say....

Sicker than a ? Yep, that's what I've been since late Saturday night. But, I'm feeling a bit better. Not 100% but better. It's been one of those yucky stomach bugs with a sinus infection waiting in the wings. Ya, my old pal the sinus infection back to spend the season. Of course I can't really take anything because I'm still a nursing mamma. I know, I know...my baby is almost 1. But I'm just not ready to go there. Maybe by next week or next month, I assure you that I'll be ready long before she goes to Nursery...LONG before. But I'm just not ready. So, that's my story. That's why I've been flying under the blog radar. If it's any consolation, my house is a disaster...or was...until my sweet husband came to the rescue. Thanks Farmboy for being a great Mr. Mom for the past few days.
