A distraction

Things are still congested at our house. HY eyes are looking a lot better (thanks for the advice ONEHM) & Mini-E is happy as can be with the bubble gum flavored anti-biotic (yuck!). I a still wanting to chop off my head and get a new one, but we're doing better than yesterday.

Since HY hasn't been feeling great, I have no sledding, snow, park, or other adventuresome pictures to post. When we're sick, we stick to the house and watch tv (gasp!), color, read books, & scream at each other (the children, not Farmboy and I). It's pretty lame around here. We try to keep our spirits up and our tears to a minimum. So the other day when HY started screaming over something. I started doing this. For documentation purposes of course.
Photobucket
And then I got a very motherly idea. Distract him! I can't argue with my kids. I can't talk sense into them. But I can distract them. So, I asked him if he wanted to look through the window on the camera. Indeed he did.

He's quite the photographer. He even asked if he could hold it and do it "by himself"---uh? to which I said NO. And quickly distracted him to the kitchen.

Changes

There have been some changes around here the last week.

I decided that I needed a little indoor studio (so that we don't freeze during a photo shoot--check out my latest here). So Mini-E donated her room & joined HY in his bedroom. I had great fear of putting them together but they have done super! Better than Farmboy or I expected. They sleep better at night in the same room. Who knew? Photobucket
HY's only woken up a few times (never due to sister being there)---poopie diaper, or the most devistating of all...the Batman cape has come loose!!!! Seriously. It's awesome to have him call me into the room at 3 am only to have him ask to have the cape Velcro back on! So, I made an executive decision last night. The beloved Batman and Superman pjs are going bye bye. The basement storage. At least for a while. Sorry HY, but I must get a good nights sleep and so must you.
Photobucket

I love the studio/library. It's nice having a room that isn't completely crowded. Mini-E loves to frequent the library and pull her favorite books off the shelf. She can be found here on any given day.
Photobucket
The hair is another story. I tried this hair style for church on Sunday.
Photobucket
It worked pretty well. I twisted it a bit more. I just was too lazy to take it out for bedtime. If you are wondering what happens when you sleep in piggies such as these...no need to wonder any longer. Afro baby! It's kind of fun considering she's got straighter than straight hair.
Photobucket
Not to worry, everything is back to normal after a good shampoo & rinse.

Around to it

These family pictures were taken a while ago (like maybe a couple of weeks) and I'm just now getting around to editing and showing them off.

NOW, I did NOT take these photos (that would be something!). My dear friend Heidi did. And I LOVE them. Thanks so very much Miss Heidi. You amaze me.

Here are just a dozen or so that I love.

Had to share

Last week, I was crazy busy with my Christmas-Mini Session. This week, peace and tranquility. I'm finished (at least for a week). But I just had to share this darling treasure that I came across during the mini-session.
Photobucket
Aren't these the cutest hats you've ever seen? Oh, I just love them. And the kiddos wearing them are seriously gorgeous. And so sweet. We were all finished and then I saw these hats in their mamma's bag. We nearly forgot to have them put them on. So we had the girls come back for a few final shots. I'm so glad that we did.

If you are interested in purchasing a hat of your own. Check them out {here}.

Cut me some slack

Last Thursday we piled in the car and headed to Colorado for a little family trip. Farmboy loves to drive, and I love to not drive so it works out just right. The drive wasn't too bad. It was actually quite beautiful at times. And HY was in heaven--what will all the tunnels and trains. Plus he got to indulge in his latest craze. (Thomas the Train)
Photobucket

But what's in Colorado? Only some of our dearest friends EVER!
Photobucket
Talk about fun. Our kids had so much fun playing and dressing up (we don't have dress up clothes at our house, so this was a real treat.)Photobucket
Mini-E was a princess for the first time.
Photobucket
Photobucket
(Big Boy J was a good sport and let me put a tu tu on & this red hat).

We visited the Cozy Cow & learned all about where milk comes from. And we splurged on some egg nog (mamma's fav) and chocolate milk (daddy's fav). But we didn't stay long because it was windy and freezing!Photobucket

We made the yummiest meals ever. And Red E was her Momma's big helper.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Of course HY came to help "clean up"---Photobucket

Mini-E favorite spot was in the retro high chair eating her usual 4 bowls of Cereal!
Yes, FOUR bowls!
Photobucket
gotta find me one of those cool chairs...

On Saturday, we were joined by another favorite family.

more pictures here.

We wanted the BYU game, ate hogies & just hung out. It was a fabulous reunion.

HY and Red E played all day and night with minimal problems. I'm not surprised, this little lady is such a sweetheart.
Photobucket
But Mini-E & Big Boy J were another story. A bit of competition there! But I'm convinced they love each other deep down inside.
Photobucket
more here.

A big huge Thank you to our Friends who invited us into their home and let us be apart of their everyday lives. It was such a treat! We love you!!!

Since being home, I've cleaned & cleaned & cleaned* & still my house isn't the way I'd like it to be. I've been busy with photos session, planning Thanksgiving, designing custom Christmas Cards, & trying to get everything in order for a Christmas Mini-Session. (watch for that soon)

*laundry, unpack, bathrooms, de-clutter, dinner, dinner, sweep, mop, kitchen...the list goes on

So, there you have it.
We have Christmas lights up, but not turned on (there are 3 people on our street with lights on--crazy)

And last night I was treated with the a girl's night out to the Cheesecake Factory and TWILIGHT! A true treat!

fhe: wheat & the chaff

Last night, our fhe consisted of photos in the wheat field near our house.
Photobucket
I've been dying to shoot a few pictures in this field and yesterday was the last day I was able to do it. Thanks to farmboy! I couldn't have done it without him. And he even gave us a little lesson on the wheat and the chaff. Pretty cool!

See more photos here.

Lovin' H

This last Saturday I had the privilege of photographing this sweet girl. She is not only an amazing babysitter but a sweet--sweet niece. And she's so gorgeous just like her sister. Every Saturday one of my nieces comes over to babysit my kids so that Farmboy & I can have a date night. It's wonderful. And what's even better, is that I know my kids are safe when they are with these girls. And they have fun. They beg to have a one of them come. What mother could ask for more? More pictures HERE, HERE, & HERE.
