Tuck in

Every night after the kids have been in bed for an hour or so, I head in to re tuck them in. Halloween night was no different. Except for one thing. While tucking in Mini-E she rolled onto her side, fast asleep and said:

Trick er Treat...

Down the Toilet

Halloween was never my mother's favorite holiday. She saw it as one of those "evil" holidays that just introduced her kids to pillow cases full of candy. AND Candy was never a good thing in our house. You couldn't find junk food to save your life! Did I ever tell you the time that we dug through the dumpster of a health food store that had gone out of business? We ate rice cakes for YEARS! Well, it's a good story, but I must stick to one at a time.

Anyway...Halloween...candy..
Every year after the usual door to door candy acquiring, we'd sit down in the front room (don't ask why we picked the nicest, whitest room in the house...but we did) to sort through our loot.

My brother, Queezly, always managed to trade me all his caramel squares for my good candy bars. It was like his right as my older brother to take anything of mine that was good. I was allowed to exist one more day if I payed my dues. jerk

After the trade, we hid our pillow cases full of candy any place that Mom wouldn't find it.
We knew that if she found our stash--it'd be gone forever.
DOWN. THE. TOILET.
She felt strongly about the over consumption of candy. Very Strongly.

I'm thinking, she wasn't that far off, was she?

Halloween Festivities

Photos courtesy of Grandad.

This year, we headed down to Uncle R-d & Aunt Lala's house for some yummy chili & cornbread & the usual Halloween Trick-or Treating. HY & Mini-E weren't very interested in the pre-candy festivities. They were all geared up for the main event. But I tell you, that cornbread was FABULOUS! I should know, I had about 3 pieces. We headed out in the neighborhood with all the cousins. And we knocked on doors for about an hour and a half which is approximately one hour more than last year. The weather was unusually warm & Uncle R-d was smart enough to pile the two littlest ones in the wagon. HY ran with the big boys while Mini-E only had to lift her bucket for handfuls of candy. It was a dream come true for her.
And guess who showed up half way through trick or treating?
A very familiar witch. I'm telling you, she (Nonna) scared the daylights out of me. HY was pretty concerned about Nonna stealing his candy. I reassured him that it really wasn't her thing, but he may be scarred for life now!
After checking out our loot, we headed up to Midway for a night & a day "out of town." We spent our time swimming & just hanging out with Grandad. Mini-E is loving the water. And HY has no fear!
We can't wait for our next time at Grandad's Lodge.

Peter Pan, Tink & Freckles

I wonder...why is that kids are good for everyone but their mother?
Everyone always says how polite they are...sweet, good kids. And they are.
But seriously. My children will not pose without a serious fight.
I have to bribe them with candy. Raise your hand if you want a treat!!!
I'm a sucker and they know it.
Take a look at Mini-E's right hand stained blue with candy.

Tink, as she now calls herself, has a few new freckles.
Yes, freckles! I spotted them yesterday while watching the BYU football game.
It's the first game that we've ever been to as a couple or a family.Picture courtesy of Grandad
Uncle R-D invited us. We had a blast.

Both HY and Mini-E loved the game. HY borrowed Grandad's binoculars to catch the action close up. He cracked me up: "Come on guys...get him, get him, get him...oooooooh"
Tink lasted the entire game minus 1:4O to play. Which was quite intense. She slept through all the screams in the final seconds.

Even if they seems to be naughter for me than anyone else on the planet, I love them just the same. They have all my love no matter what.

Finalmente!

I had the hardest time making an LO for Halloween. I don't know what it was but I must have gone thru 3 or tries to get something that I kind of liked. So much pressure to do something fabulous I guess. So, I borrowed some ideas from fellow scrapbookers & I came up with these 2 pages. Obviously the idea to make 2 pages & just switch out the pictures of my kids came from Tina. Genious idea by the way. Not the most fabulous work, but it'll do. As for the credits{template by yours truly, black paper Tangie, Miss Viv torn paper, outside stiching lyndsay fresh, Ouhlala chain, Halloween Font Chic Decay}

One Be'witching' time

Yesterday, Nonna called to see if we wanted to go see the Witches at Gardner Village???
OF COURSE! So off we went...

Nonna guiding the double stroller thru the streets

(those things are hard to drive--but she grew up in California, so this is NO Promblem for her)

They one kid is missing... where is HY?

Running around like a mad man looking at all the witches & pumpkins

Lovin' this pumpkin

Mamma! Look at that witch up there! Riding a "motorbicycle"
We had to stop for treat! HY is having a hard time deciding.
Thanks so much Nonna for making our day so special!
Any day with you is the best.

THE END!

Memory Lane Monday & more

In honor of Halloween, Miss Tangie's new store, & Memory Lane Monday---I did this little LO.

This is HY last year at Halloween. We borrowed this outfit from Aunt CC, but I believe that it was Aunt Runnie that made it. She's so darn talented. She asked me what I wanted my kiddos to be this year. She's offered to make their costumes.

So, that's the question...what can HY & Mini-E be this year for Halloween??? Taking suggestions in the comment area.
