Traveling Jean

Years ago while serving a mission in Italy something spectacular happened to me. I learned a lesson not just about prayer but specifically praying and receiving answers from a loving Heavenly Father.

It was p-day and I needed a new pair of jeans. Now finding a pair of jeans in Italy may seem like an easy thing to do. It's not. Not if you have an American body and little cash to spend. I told my companion that we were going to specifically ask Heavenly Father to help us find a pair of jeans that day. We completed our chores for the day and set out for the jeans. To our dismay, we forgot that by mid afternoon, everything in the town shuts down for several hours. It seemed that we would not be shopping for jeans that day.

I decided to forget about the jeans until another day. Instead we took a walk on the beach. As we walked down the beach my companion saw something ahead of us wash up onto the shore. She ran ahead and snatched the item before the tide took it back out to sea.

"What is it?" I yelled.
"They are jeans!" she shouted back in amazement.
"Well bring 'em in." I said with a bit of dismay.
"And they're from Old Navy!"

Indeed they were. And would you believe that they fit me perfectly? Old Navy Jeans sent from God. There was no doubt about it.

It was then and there that I realized that nothing was too great for God. Nothing that was too small for Him. He heard my specific prayer and answered me specifically.

Why I screamed out loud during General Conference

A Temple in ROME, ITALY!

Wowzers. I couldn't be more ecstatic than if it were in my own backyard!
I've dreamed for nearly 10 years for this day.
But the members of Italy have dreamed of this for a lifetime or more.

Guess who's going to Italy???

Photobucket

I'm so excited!
Farmboy & I have been saving our skymiles for many years (he's been saving them since his mission)---so that we could go to Italy for our 5th year anniversary. Well, the time has come. We booked our flight for next April. Sure that's about 10 months away, but it's a dream come true!

Dream.
Come.
True!

Look whose getting married!

Look what I just got in the mail! I'm so excited for this girl! We've known each other for more than 8 years now. We've been through some of the craziest things a companionship could go through. She was one of my mission companions in Italy. She helped me find Old Navy jeans in the Ocean, we were thrown out of our Baptismal canidate's house the night before she was supposed to be baptized, & we climbed the steps to the top of the Vatican together. She's one cool girl. And she's marrying one cool guy. Congradulations to the both of them!

Rome Mission Reunion

Friday evening, my sweet husband & I went to my mission reunion. In December, it will be 8 years since I returned from Italy. Sadly, there are only a few missionaries that I served with that still go to the reunions. I sure wish more of them would come. I'd love to see their families & hear how their lives are going.
When we left, I told Farmboy that it always makes my heart ache to go to things like that. I miss Italy & the sweet people there that I served.
Oh, how I wish I could be apart of their everyday lives!
I didn't have my camera, so these pictures are from Sister President
(thanks so much for all the yummy Italian food)

Our little family. (As you can see HY was only interested in playing)

Our favorite Duraz family. Love the twinners.

Anziano B. Thanks for updating me on all the members in Rome 2!

Good times.

If you can dream it "Friday"

Alright, this is for real. Farmboy said that we are going to go to Italy for our 5th anniversary. That's 2 years away! Who wants to come??? Oh, and I almost forgot...we are planning a Mediterranian Cruise as part of the trip...
This is my "happiest place on earth"! Save up your pennies (miles) and let's go!

If you can dream it "Friday"

Just a few places that I'd like to go to dinner with Farmboy! Rome, Venice, & Sorrento. A girl can dream.
I love this place--It's simply MAGIC.
