Check out the faces of these children!
Disclosure: this is long so feel free to skim or skip completely!
Those of you who know me know that I am NOT an "in your face-mean" person. I've always been taught to just let things ride and not make a fuss. But TODAY....I broke out of the norm...
My mom and I were having a lovely day browsing at IKEA (I know what you are thinking...how many times does this girl go to IKEA?). Let's be honest--it's about 7-10 minutes from my house. It's my new Target. Anyway...so Nonna and I are "browsing" & we have lunch (you must try the Sweddish Meatballs). We start to find our way to a cash register because let's be honest, it's been a few hours and I have my 2 kids with me. Yes...WITH me. Here's where it gets a bit ugly.
We find a nice long line(they are all long people) & plop ourselves behind 10-15 customers. We are patiently waiting our turn when all of a sudden people in front of us just start leaving the line. Horray! We've picked the right line. Perhaps they feel bad that I have a screaming child & they are letting me "cut" in front of them. NO---NO--NO. They inform us that the cashier is "closed." She just decided to turn off her light and be done! Yep! You heard me right. She turned off her light with 15 people waiting in line and we are all just supposed to find another really long line to put ourselves in.
So, quiet little me turns around, throws my arms up in the air and Yells, "Nobody get in this line...She's closed!--she didn't have the decency to tell you herself...but she's CLOSED!"
So we find another line & wait another half hour. While we are waiting, my sweet mother decides to make a complaint to a nearby manager. (I say complaint, but really---it's a mild suggestion when it comes from my kind hearted mother). She comes back and tells me that the "young girl" (manager) really didn't care. I guess she told my mom that "the light was off." So, they just blew my mother off! Now, I'm really upset. And I look up and see that the current line we are standing in (with another 10 people behind us)---has just turned off its light!
I approach the manager who is a little younger than I am. I give her the story about the other line and how the girl just turned off her light without letting anybody know. And I ask her if WE are going to be able to pay for our stuff now that the current line we are in...has just turned off their light?????
Well, she fumbled for a few words and try to tell me how "99%" they don't have that happen. Yadda yadda...just apolgize & admit that it was poor planning on somebody's part---like yours!
Ya...so there you have it---lame-os are everywhere. Even IKEA!
