Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten things that I am So Grateful for:

10. A Degree/Teaching Certificate: just recently Farmboy lost his job & we were in need of a bit of buffer. Thankfully, I was able to find a position teachingESL Adults in the evenings.
Thank goodness for Mothers like mine who taught me to be prepared!

9. Clear Sunny Days: Fall is still here, but fading quickly. Yesterday we were able to go to park & not freeze in just jackets!

8. General Conference: The opportunity to hear from modern day prophets.

7. Best Friends: Who call & wish me well on my first day back to teaching. You always know.

6. Reading to my kids: HY loves me to read to him. What more can I say?

5. Nonna: Who calls everyday to see what I'm doing. AND is helping me get some food storage in order.

4. A Basement: It may not be clean, but it's a great place for storage & helps the upstairs to not be so cluttered.

3. Mini-E: who can't crawl yet! Thank you sweet child for holding off just a bit longer.

2. HY: I love to see him laugh & try to make Mini-E laugh along with him.

And the #1 thing that I am SO grateful for:

1. Farmboy! He watches the kids every night, gets them in bed, & cleans up the kitchen so that I don't have a million things to do when I get home. I love you!

Memory Lane Monday

From the time I entered 2nd grade--my mom was teaching school. I remember having to spend long hours before AND after school with her. It was no fun. She was an incredible teacher, but she spent hours in her classroom. I swore that I would NEVER be a teacher. But 24 years laster, I too succomed to the teacher profession. Lucky for me, I only taught 3 years before retiring to my current position (Stay at Home Mom). Here are a few of my favorite pictures from teaching:
1. About the only good picture of me EVER teaching. This was the year I was engaged to be married to Farmboy. Sometimes he would show up at my classroom unexpected, so I HAD to look good! (YEAR 2004)
2. This picture is one that was taken at Lagoon Day. A few choice teachers got to attend. Here's a fun picture of some of my favorite teachers. See if you can find me. Hint: I have my foot up on the principal's knee! (YEAR 2004)
3. The last picture was taken on "Dress up like your student" Day. As you can see, I was sporting my most ganster outfit! (YEAR 2005)
I have to admit that while teaching was sometimes stressful---it was always entertaining. The kids were generally pretty good---in a ganster-swearing-druggy sort of way. These kids helped me appreciate my own sheltered life as a kid.
